$1 Challenge!

Wow! We’ve reached over 6,200 likes on our Facebook page. Thank you so much for your support.

We would like to issue you a challenge! A $1 challenge! Just think, if everyone donated just $1, we could raise $6205!!

We are in the middle of a very busy kitten season. We currently have four mama cats and their twenty-one babies that will need to be spayed or neutered in the next six weeks. We will need to raise $2500 just for their physical exam, their spay or neuter and their rabies vaccine.

If addition to the exam, surgery and rabies, all of our cats and kittens are Feline Leukemia/FIV tested, vaccinated for FVRCPP, dewormed for internal parasites, checked for external parasites and are current on heartworm prevention/flea control.

Please take the challenge! You simply need to push the yellow “donate” button on our website or Facebook page and submit your donation.  Thank you!

We are so excited to announce our next fundraising iPaint Parties event!
Atria’s Restaurant Morgantown will be hosting our event and donating one drink ticket per person to be redeemed for a glass of house wine or a 16 ounce draft beer.
Register through the iPaint website at www.ipaintparties.com. The event will be June 22. Please arrive at 6:00 pm to order dinner. Painting begins at 6:30 pm.
Please note that you may customize your painting with dogs, cats or both as pictured on the flyer. See you there!

Mother’s Day Series – Moms of Homeward Bound WV

In honor of Mother’s Day this weekend, we are introducing you to the current mothers of Homeward Bound WV. Every mom needs a little recognition! We are pleased to bring you the fourth, and final, day of this series.
On occasion, we are asked to take in motherless kittens and puppies. These animals are too young to be away from their mothers, but have been found alone. In the wild, animals face many dangers like other animals, vehicles and disease. Currently, we have two kittens in foster care that were found without their moms, Mulligan and Vincent.
Mulligan was found in the middle of a busy road with his eyes very badly infected. After twenty-seven days of antibiotic treatment, some days treatment was every 2-4 hours around the clock, we are happy to report that his eyes are perfectly normal!
Vincent was found as a tiny baby who still should have been nursing from his mother. We have several human foster moms who take these babies and bottle feed them. “Bottle-babies” are very labor intensive and require feeding every two hours minimum.
The dedication of our human foster moms is the reason Homeward Bound, WV is able to save these precious lives. We thought that Mother’s Day is the perfect day to say thank you to them!
All of our cats and kittens are examined by a veterinarian, Feline Leukemia/FIV tested, vaccinated for Rabies and FVRCPP, dewormed for internal parasites, checked for external parasites, current on heartworm prevention/flea control and have been spayed/neutered.

If you interested in Mulligan or Vincent, fill out the adoption application here >> http://www.homewardboundwv.org or send us an email at adopt@homewardboundwv.org for more information.
Please note that neither Mulligan or Vincent are ready to go to their new homes yet, but you can apply to adopt them.

Mother’s Day series – Summerlin

Today you get to meet Summerlin and her babies: Henderson, Pendleton, Albany, Yuma, Parris and Lejeune. Summerlin was found as a stray cat and it was very obvious to the man and woman who found her that she was pregnant and close to giving birth. Please read her story below and see if you have a place in your home, and heart, for Summerlin?
“Hi, my name is Summerlin! When my former owner moved away from my house, they left me behind. I wandered around my neighborhood for a few days. I finally decided that I should be brave, so I wandered up to a stranger’s door. To my surprise, the man and woman that lived there seemed very happy to see me. They petted me and gave me fresh food and water. They talked to everyone in my neighborhood and found out that I no longer had a home. Guess what? They invited me in to stay and promised me that they would help me out. Before long, they realized that I had a little secret, six little secrets actually! I gave birth to my six babies soon after they took me in. They contacted Homeward Bound WV and for now I live with a new family while my babies still depend on me. Soon we will all be ready for adoption! I hope that we all find loving homes.”
All of our cats and kittens are examined by a veterinarian, Feline Leukemia/FIV tested, vaccinated for Rabies and FVRCPP, dewormed for internal parasites, checked for external parasites, current on heartworm prevention/flea control and have been spayed/neutered.
If you interested in Summerlin or any of her kittens, please fill out the adoption application here >> http://www.homewardboundwv.org or send us an email at adopt@homewardboundwv.org for more information.
Please note that Summerlin and her kittens are not ready to go to their new homes yet, but you can apply to adopt them.
